VCTF-CBP3-TheDig By Plutonic

 Originally part of the CBP3 Vol 1 pack.

The Necris’ tentacle secrets were being unearthed at this dig.  No story in the readme.

Gameplay 27/30

This is the original to CTF-TheExcavation by the same author.  The basics of the layout are the same.  Horseshoe in shape with the bases either side of the Necris’ tentacles.  The addition of vehicles here doesn’t change the flow as such just speeds things up a little. The bases are fairly attackers can find it difficult to attack and cap as there is a downhill slope toward the bases.  This give the defenders a clear shot as the flag runner leaves.  This may lead to long matches.

Playercount is set at 8 to 10 and that’s about right here.  The defend the bases well and cap, cover and fight without any problems.

Pickups are well placed with the right amount of health and ammo.  The U-Damage is placed in a good position up on a walkway opposite the apex of the U-bend.

Performance 26/30 (Hardware)

Good, staying in the high 30’s.  It dips in only one part; looking back at the map from the U-Damage spawn point.  From here you can see almost all the map.  It dips to below 30 and is noticeable.

Eye Candy 22/25

The tentacles in the centre do look and feel very big and imposing.  It dominates the map without distracting from the gameplay.  The lighting is good and believable.  It does feel more like an industrial complex than a dig site though.

All here apart from a story.

Final Score 88/100

A good VCTF map that uses the vehicles well.  A little hard on the flag runners but a decent map overall.
