DM-CBP3-HongKong By Tynan Sylvester

Originally part of the CBP3 Vol 1 pack.

Fighting high above Hongkong’s skyline, illuminated by neon and blown apart by your foes.  The Mongkok district is a dangerous place.

Gameplay 23/30

Small with winding walkways and fatal drops.  Standard pickups are well used including an interesting use of the shock rifle.  Nice to see a bit of risk added to balance that weapon.  There are many areas that you can fall off which makes the knock back from the shock rifle an added bonus.

Playercount is set at 2 to 6.  I think it’s a little on the small side for six as it turns into a bit of a spam fest.  4 seems to fit the map better.  Bots navigate well and look like they know what they’re doing.  The layout did feel a little random though.

Performance 22/30

It was OK at above 30 around most of the map but in the centre it fell to below 25.  I’m not sure why but it was a hot spot in the map.

Eye Candy  18/25

A mix of good and bad.  The city scape does look really nice.  Looking back at the map the rising skyline does look very impressive.  I really like the flying traffic, it reminded me of all the anime and futurist films I’ve seen, a nice touch.  The neon signs in the interior look really good as does the view over the river from the walkways.

But it’s the walkways that are the main problem here.  There are no supports; they just hang in mid-air.  It should look structurally sound or possible. This does hurt the feeling of being there.  Also I noticed some of the signs were upside down or 90 degrees out.

The Details 14/15

All present and correct though the story could be a little longer

Final Score 77/100

A good map for the most part but but let down in the immersive feel.
